In a significant step towards empowering individuals with disabilities, the Composite Regional Centre (CRC) of the Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) Islands distributed aids and appliances under the ADIP Scheme. The event aimed to enhance the quality of life for the inmates of the Abbhyuday Complex for Children, Children with Disabilities and Old Age in Ferrargunj under the Directorate of Social Welfare.
Present at the event were Mrs. Sumithamol, Director of CRC A&N Islands; Mrs. Sheela, Supervisor of Abbhyuday Home; Mr. T.Y. Abid, Lecturer in Physiotherapy; and Mrs. Saranyah R.K, Rehabilitation Officer of CRC A&N Islands.
The distribution included various aids and assistive devices tailored to the specific needs of the recipients. These aids included wheelchairs, other mobility aids like tripods, walking sticks, rollators, and elbow crutches, as well as teaching and learning materials suited to the mental age of the children. These provisions ensure better accessibility and mobility for the beneficiaries.
Approximately 25 beneficiaries, after proper screening by professionals, received these aids and assistive devices through this program.
