Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee has announced a Rally, Dharna and Public Meeting on 29th November 2022, to press for 100% Job Reservation for Islanders.
Demand for 100% Job Reservation for Islanders has been raised by various political parties from time to time. Demonstrations and protests have also been organised in the past to press for the implementation of 100% Job reservation for Islanders.
Common Recruitment Examination for Various Group C Posts was held on 20th November 2022, in which 39000 candidates had applied online for 565 vacancies, out of which around 87% of candidates attended the exam. Many people allege that a large number of the candidates who attended the exams are non-Islanders.
Andaman and Nicobar Administration is planning to fill up thousands of vacant posts in various departments on mission mode. The progress of filling up vacant posts in Andaman and Nicobar Administration is being monitored at the highest level.
As recruitment for more vacancies will be announced soon, therefore many residents of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are demanding 100% Job Reservation for Islanders. The contention of those demanding 100% Job reservation is that the candidates from the Islands cannot compete with their counterparts who have had better educational opportunities in Mainland India.
Leaders of the congress have requested the youth and the general public to join the rally, dharna and public meeting at Tiranga Park in large numbers.
