In a surprising turn of events, the Congress party has once again asserted its dominance in the political landscape of Zilla Parishad South Andaman, securing both the coveted positions of Adhyaksha and Up-Adhyaksh for the third year term. The election, held today, saw Mrs. M Rajani and Mr. P A Sharfuddin emerge victorious as the newly elected Adhyaksha and Up-Adhyaksh respectively.

Mrs. M Rajani, Zilla Parishad Member representing Tushnabad, clinched the position of Adhyaksha, while Mr. P A Sharfuddin, ZPM Mithakhari, secured the post of Up-Adhyaksh. Their election marks a significant shift in power dynamics within the Zilla Parishad South Andaman.

The defeat of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in both the PBMC Chairperson Election and the Adhyaksha and Up-Adhyaksh Election of ZP South Andaman underscores Congress’s strategic maneuvering in the region. Despite BJP’s clear majority in Zilla Parishad South Andaman, Congress managed to clinch victory in the crucial leadership positions.

This development has raised questions within BJP ranks, prompting calls for introspection and a reassessment of their political strategy. The consecutive defeats in both the PBMC Chairperson election and the Zilla Parishad South Andaman elections highlight a significant shift in the political landscape, with Congress emerging as a formidable contender.

It is worth noting that both Zilla Parishad South Andaman and PBMC were previously dominated by BJP during the First and Second Year Terms, making Congress’s recent victories all the more noteworthy.

As the newly elected leaders prepare to take charge, the political landscape of Zilla Parishad South Andaman is poised for a period of change and transformation under the leadership of M Rajani and P A Sharfuddin.
