ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder, ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker, and Chairman of Adivasi Congress Mr. Sebastian Tirkey embarked on a three-day visit to Car Nicobar Island, where they paid homage to the victims of the 2004 tsunami disaster at the memorial. Accompanied by tribal leaders from Car Nicobar, the Congress leaders also visited the Tsunami Memorial’s photo gallery, honouring the memories of those affected by the tragic event.
In another tribute, the Congress leaders of Car Nicobar, led by Mr. Rangalal Halder, Mr. TSG Bhasker, and Mr. Sebastian Tirkey, offered their respects at the memorial of Late Bishop John Richardson, the First Member of Parliament from A&N Islands. They remembered Bishop John Richardson’s lifelong dedication to the islands, emphasising his tireless efforts in empowering and unifying tribal communities.
Wreaths were laid at the memorial of Bishop John Richardson as the Congress leaders prayed for his eternal peace. They also visited the Mus Church, joining tribal leaders in prayer.
Responding to the concerns raised by Congress leaders from Car Nicobar, Mr. Rangalal Halder, Mr. TSG Bhasker, and Mr. Sebastian Tirkey visited the Mus Jetty to assess its operations and condition. Engaging with the local community, they gained insights into various issues surrounding the jetty and inspected the passenger waiting shed, the sea wall construction site, and the dredging area.
The Congress leaders assured the community that they would take up the raised issues with the relevant authorities, working towards prompt resolutions.
