The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) President, Mr. Rangalal Halder, has raised serious concerns over the lack of a mortuary van in Harminder Bay, a tribal region with a population of approximately 2,000. During a recent visit to the area, Mr.Halder was deeply disturbed to learn that grieving families are forced to transport deceased loved ones using private vehicles due to the absence of this essential service.

In a letter to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Mr. Halder highlighted the emotional and financial distress faced by residents. He emphasized that the unavailability of a mortuary van not only adds to the agony of bereaved families but also raises significant concerns about hygiene and human dignity. The high cost of arranging private transportation further exacerbates the situation, making it an urgent issue that demands immediate attention.

Mr. Halder urged the Administration to allocate a dedicated mortuary van for Harminder Bay at the earliest. He stressed that such a service is a fundamental necessity and would provide much-needed relief to the people of the region.

Reaffirming his commitment to public welfare, the ANTCC President called upon the authorities to act swiftly and ensure that the dignity of the deceased and their families is upheld.
