Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), under the leadership of its President, Mr. Rangalal Halder, held a mass protest in Port Blair today as part of a nationwide movement against the alleged “Adani Megascam.” The demonstration, which took place in front of the iconic Gandhi Statue, was a powerful call for truth, transparency, and accountability from the Central Government.
The protest rally began at the Congress Office and proceeded to the Gandhi Statue, where a large gathering of party leaders and members voiced their strong disapproval of what they described as the Central Government’s cover-up of the scandal. Congress leaders, speaking passionately at the event, underscored the urgent need for a transparent investigation into the matter, stressing that the public deserves to know the truth.
At the heart of the Dharna was a demand for the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to conduct a thorough investigation into the Adani Scam. Protesters expressed their deep concern that the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had failed in its duty to ensure accountability, effectively allowing the alleged scam to go unchecked. The frustration was palpable, with calls for the government to take swift and decisive action to address the issue.
“The people of this country deserve justice, and we will not rest until a fair and thorough inquiry is conducted,” said Mr. Halder, as the crowd cheered in support.
Among the prominent leaders who addressed the gathering were Senior Leader Mrs. Shanta Laxman Singh, former MP of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, ANTCC Spokesperson Mr. Tamil Selvan, Minority Chairman Mr. John Robert Babu, Mahila Coordinator South Zone Mrs. Zubaida Begum, and Mahila Leader Mrs. M. Bindu. Each speaker echoed the sentiment of outrage and called on the Central Government to fulfill its responsibilities to the people.
The protest in Port Blair was a clear indication of the Congress Party’s resolve to pursue justice in what they have termed one of the largest financial scandals in recent history. As the movement gains momentum nationwide, all eyes are on the Central Government’s response to these growing demands for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged scam.
