CPAO (Sri Vijaya Puram) Hosts Quiz Competition and Workshop Ahead of 7th A & N Civil Accounts Day

The Chief Pay & Accounts Office (CPAO), Sri Vijaya Puram organized two impactful events as part of its professional development initiatives and the celebrations leading up to the 7th Andaman & Nicobar Civil Accounts Day, to be observed on 7th December.

The day’s activities began with a Quiz Competition at 10:00 AM in the Conference Hall, inaugurated by Mr. S. Das Gupta, Director of Accounts & Budget. Open to all subordinate staff, the quiz aimed to enhance regulatory knowledge and foster camaraderie among participants. Key topics such as CCS Rules, General Financial Rules (GFR), and the Civil Accounts Manual (CAM) were at the core of the quiz, which tested the participants’ understanding of essential regulations critical to organisational efficiency.

The competition saw active participation, with staff members demonstrating their dedication to mastering compliance-related knowledge. Mr. Y. Venkateswar Rao, LDC, emerged victorious, followed by Ms. Rita Dhali, Senior Accountant, in second place, and Ms. V. K. Nishad Begum, LDC, in third place.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to a workshop titled “Public Procurement: Challenges and Way Forward,” which commenced at 3:00 PM. During the inaugural session, Mr. Das Gupta highlighted the workshop’s relevance in addressing procurement challenges in key sectors such as shipping, power, and APWD. He reaffirmed CPAO’s commitment to equipping its workforce with the tools and knowledge required to navigate evolving procurement regulations and challenges effectively.

Senior officers from the Pay & Accounts Organization, including B. Binu, Raji K. George, Russel Ross D., M. Mohammed Ashraf, K. Chintamani, and Evan Francis, led the workshop sessions. Drawing from their expertise, the speakers shared actionable strategies to reduce audit objections, tackle vigilance observations, and adopt best practices to optimise procurement efficiency. The interactive discussions encouraged participants to explore innovative solutions for overcoming real-world procurement hurdles.

The workshop began with a warm welcome from Ms. C. Sameera Thoufique, AAO, who set an engaging tone for the event. The day concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. R. Femina, reflecting the CPAO’s appreciation for the speakers and participants.

These initiatives are part of a month-long celebration commemorating the A&N Civil Accounts Day. They underscore CPAO’s ongoing commitment to regulatory compliance, public administration efficiency, and workforce empowerment, reinforcing its legacy of excellence and dedication to organisational goals.
