In a significant move towards empowering people with mental disorders (PwMDs), the CRC-A&N Islands, under the administrative control of the National Institute of Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, has initiated a Free Coaching Scheme. The scheme, launched on April 29, 2024, aims to provide coaching to economically disadvantaged students with PwMDs, enabling them to appear in competitive examinations and secure suitable employment opportunities.
The scheme targets individuals with a minimum of 40% disability and a total family income of Rs. 6 Lakhs per annum or less. Eligible candidates can apply for coaching to prepare for competitive examinations conducted by entities such as the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), Banking/Insurance/PSU, and CLAT, to pursue careers in the Government/Public/Private sector.
CRC-A&N Islands has invited applications from students with various disabilities, including Intellectual Disabilities (ID), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), Mental Illness (MI), and Multiple Disabilities (MD). Aspiring candidates interested in availing the benefits of the scheme are required to submit their applications along with the necessary documents by May 30, 2024. The required documents include SSC/HSC/Degree Certificate, UDID/Enrollment Number, Aadhaar Card, Caste Certificate, Bank Details, Income certificate, Nativity Certificate, and two passport-sized photographs.
