In observance of the World Day Against Child Labour, a compelling awareness programme and rally was organized by CRY (Child Rights and You) at Sri Vijaya Puram on Tuesday. The initiative, led by Mrs. Farida Bibi and her team, sought to shed light on the pressing issue of child labour and reinforce the importance of every child’s right to education.

The event was graced by Ms. Zarina Bibi, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), ICDS Urban Project under the Department of Social Welfare, who attended as the chief guest and led the rally. Her participation drew considerable attention and motivated active community involvement.

More than 120 participants—including students, parents, volunteers, and local residents—joined the rally, carrying banners and raising slogans to spread awareness about the harmful impact of child labour. The march passed through prominent areas of the town, generating significant public engagement.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Zarina Bibi stressed the transformative role of education in a child’s life and underlined the detrimental effects of child labour on children’s physical and emotional well-being.

During the programme, the importance of education in shaping a child’s future and the collective responsibility of society in protecting children’s rights were emphasised. The event served as a platform to reinforce the message that every child deserves a safe, nurturing childhood and access to quality education.
