Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Ex-Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands & Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, State Vice President, Bharatiya Janata Party (ZP Member Govind Nagar) met Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and highlighted burning issues of the Islands.

The Chief Secretary was apprised of the difficulties being faced by the referred patients and their family members from remote Islands due to stopping of free transport by air to Port Blair. The Chief Secretary directed the concerned officials to immediately start free transport of referred patients to Port Blair from remote Islands (unconnected by road from Port Blair).

Free air transport for referred patients from remote Islands to Port Blair was earlier stopped by the Administration. Patients referred by doctors for life saving surgeries or immediate consultation with specialist doctors had to pay for their own helicopter ticket fare.

Patients being referred to Port Blair from remote Islands (unconnected with Port Blair by Road) will be relived as they will no longer be required to pay for helicopter tickets for travelling to Port Blair for treatment.

The leaders also requested the Chief Secretary to do away with the requirement of RT-PCR for travelling to Southern Group of Islands as the passengers are facing a lot of difficulties. Cheif Secretary informed that necessary action will be taken for convenience of the passengers.

BJP leaders have expressed gratitude to CS for favourable action in public interest.
