Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, on second day of his visit to Hutbay on 20th March 2023, visited Primary Health Centre, Hutbay and interacted with health officials. The CMO, Dr. Shiny Varghese briefed the Chief Secretary about the facilities available in the PHC. CS praised the way the PHC is maintained. He also appreciated the efforts of the Doctors and paramedical staff for providing better health care to the patients at Hutbay. He also appreciated the well maintained Medicine Counter & Medicine store of the Hospital. He took stock of the out-patient turn out and the pattern of diseases. He further urged the doctors to take advantage of e-sanjeevani (Telemedicine Service) which is designed to provide all kinds of specialty services in remotest part of the country through video conferencing. Impressed by the cleanliness maintained in the Hospital, the Chief Secretary applauded Ms. Carolin, Mr. Raja and Mr. James for their dedication towards maintaining clean and hygienic environment.
Thereafter, the Chief Secretary inspected Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School Hutbay during which, he interacted with the teachers and students. While interacting with the teachers, the Chief Secretary was very particular that 100 percent result don’t make much difference, rather the selection of students in professional courses and competitive exams makes difference. He also appreciated the effort made by the teachers for their innovative App on Mid Day Meal.
Thereafter, the Chief Secretary visited Livestock Farm of AH&VS at Netaji Nagar. He emphasised the need to reach out to farmers and motivate them for their self sustenance by through livestock, piggery and poultry farming etc.
The Chief Secretary also visited the proposed revival of Red Oil Palm plantation at Netaji Nagar. He also visited PHC RK Pur and GSSS RK Pur and interacted with the doctors, paramedical staff and teachers.
The Chief Secretary also had an interaction with the public representatives and farmers to understand their genuine issues and assured of resolving all such issues to make their life better at RK Pur.
Later, the Chief Secretary visited the Agriculture Farm at RK Pur. The Assistant Director, Agriculture, Ms Sridevi briefed the Chief Secretary about the activities of the farm and distribution of planting material to the farmers and others. While inspecting the planting materials, the Chief Secretary advised to prepare planting materials by adopting grafting method for better yield and quality. He also desired that planting materials should be distributed in large scale through this Farm. He lauded the farm’s upkeep.
The Chief Secretary also inspected the works under Amrit Sarovar Project and visited Vishnu Nallah Dam.
Later in the evening, the Chief Secretary visited Butler Bay Beach, a tourist spot.
Early in the morning, the Chief Secretary visited Hutbay Bus Terminus. He also visited the Fish Market and interacted with the fish vendors.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Ms Veditha Reddy, IAS, DFO, Mr. P K Paul, DFO, Mr. Dilip D’souza, Director Education, Mr. Aditya Kumar Jha, SE, CC-1/PBCC, APWD, Mr. Tej Bahadur, Tehsildar, Hutbay Mr. Gopal Chandra Mosid accompanied the Chief Secretary during his visit to different places in Hutbay.
