In harmony with the global community, the enchanting Andaman & Nicobar Islands is celebrating World Tourism Day 2023 with a series of vibrant programs organised by the Tourism Department. This year’s theme, ‘Tourism & Green Investments,’ reflects the archipelago’s commitment to sustainable tourism practices.
The highlight of the World Tourism Day festivities will be the grand event scheduled to kick off at 5:30 pm at the illustrious Dr. B R Ambedkar Auditorium in Mohanpura. The evening promises a kaleidoscope of cultural performances that will captivate the audience’s hearts.
The esteemed occasion will witness the presence of Mr. Binay Bhushan, IAS, Secretary of the Islands’ Information, Publicity, and Tourism (IP&T) department, as the chief guest. Joining him is Ms. Nandini Maharaj, Special Secretary (IP&T), who will grace the event as the guest of honour.
Apart from the cultural extravaganza, the Tourism Department will also recognise and reward the winners of various competitions held as part of the World Tourism Day celebrations. The general public is cordially invited to be a part of this unforgettable cultural spectacle, and attendees are encouraged to take their seats by 4:45 pm to ensure they don’t miss out on any of the evening’s festivities.
As a generous gesture to mark World Tourism Day, entry to all museums across the Islands, including Chatham Saw Mill, Samudrika Museum, Anthropological Museum, Fisheries Museum, Cellular Jail, and the Zoological Survey of India, will be free of cost for tourists and the general public. This initiative underscores the Islands’ commitment to fostering goodwill and promoting tourism.
