In a commendable effort towards public satisfaction, the Cyber Cell under the CID Unit of the Andaman and Nicobar Police successfully recovered a lost mobile phone using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) Portal.
Launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on May 17, 2023, the CEIR Portal has proven to be a crucial tool in aiding law enforcement agencies in retrieving lost mobile devices. The dedicated team at the Cyber Cell, CID, exhibited unwavering commitment and worked tirelessly to ensure the successful recovery of the lost phone, returning it to its rightful owner.
The CEIR Portal, designed to track and block stolen or lost mobile phones, played a pivotal role in the efficient recovery process. Leveraging this technology, the Cyber Cell successfully traced the lost device and facilitated its return to the owner.
As a result of this accomplishment, the Cyber Cell urges the general public to exercise increased vigilance and adopt preventive measures to avoid the loss of their mobile phones. Simple precautions such as keeping a watchful eye on personal devices, implementing password or lock screen protection, and regularly backing up important data can significantly reduce the risk of phone loss and data compromise.
