In a significant breakthrough, the Cyber Crime Police Station has successfully apprehended Vijay Victor, a 30-year-old individual, for circulating an intimate video of a victim girl over WhatsApp.

The arrest came following a formal complaint lodged by the victim, alleging that she had been in a relationship with the offender for over four years. During this time, the offender recorded intimate moments without her consent. However, when the relationship soured, the offender sought to retaliate by circulating the private video via WhatsApp.

Inspector Ranga Raj, SHO of the Cyber Crime Police Station in Port Blair, led the investigation. Under sustained interrogation, the offender confessed to his actions, and the incriminating video was recovered from his mobile phone. Subsequently, Vijay Victor was arrested and remanded to judicial custody to face charges under the Information Technology Act and other relevant laws.

The sections cited in the FIR include 66(E), 67, and 67(A) of the IT Act, along with sections 323, 292, 427, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Lakshay Pandey, Dy.SP (Cyber Crime), and the overall supervision of Mr. Rajeev Ranian, IPS, Superintendent of Police (CID/Vigilance/Security). Andaman and Nicobar Police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and dignity of women within the region.
