As cybercriminals continually evolve their tactics, a new wave of fraudulent schemes has emerged, with criminals now employing the Fake Delivery Parcel Scam to trick individuals into revealing their One Time Passwords (OTPs) and compromising their bank accounts and personal data. This alarming trend has prompted the Andaman and Nicobar Police to issue a critical advisory for the public to safeguard themselves against these deceptive practices.

Cybercriminals behind the Fake Delivery Parcel Scam are becoming increasingly inventive, and their modus operandi primarily targets individuals who frequently receive packages from various e-commerce companies. These criminals often collaborate with or impersonate delivery agents, thereby gaining access to their potential victims. Once they identify a target, they orchestrate their nefarious plan.

The scammers typically send SMS or email notifications that impersonate legitimate delivery alerts, enticing the recipients to click on suspicious links. These fraudulent links can lead to phishing websites designed to steal sensitive information, including OTPs, which are commonly used in securing online transactions and authentications.

In response to this growing threat, the Andaman and Nicobar Police have issued the following advisory to help individuals protect themselves:

1. Verify Order History: Before accepting or canceling any package, confirm your order history and the expected delivery dates.

2. Exercise Caution with Links: Avoid clicking on any links received via SMS or email when dealing with package deliveries. Scrutinise all URLs before opening them and providing any personal information or OTPs.

3. Protect Personal Information: Refrain from sharing personal details such as your address, email ID, phone number, or other sensitive information unless absolutely necessary.

4. Be Wary of Unexpected Notices: Avoid clicking on links or calling back numbers provided in unexpected delivery notices received via SMS or email.

For assistance, information, or inquiries related to cybercrime, individuals are urged to contact the Andaman and Nicobar Police’s Cyber Cell in Port Blair at the Cyber Helpline No. 9531856083 or visit the official website at http://www.cybercrime.gov.in.

The Andaman and Nicobar Police is committed to safeguarding the public from the evolving threats posed by cybercriminals. By following these guidelines and remaining vigilant, individuals can protect themselves from falling victim to the Fake Delivery Parcel Scam and other deceptive schemes that may compromise their financial security and personal data.

As the cybersecurity landscape continues to change, the cooperation of law enforcement agencies and individuals’ proactive measures remains essential in combating cybercrime and ensuring a safer digital environment.
