In a move aimed at enhancing accessibility and promoting tourism, the Directorate of Shipping Services has officially announced the commencement of a daily ferry service connecting the picturesque locales of Port Blair, Swaraj Dweep, and Long Island. This new initiative, set to launch on October 1, 2023, is poised to transform the travel experience for both tourists and local residents in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, renowned for their breathtaking natural beauty and pristine beaches, have often grappled with limited transportation options, occasionally impeding the seamless movement of tourists and residents across these idyllic destinations. Recognising this pressing need for improved connectivity, the Directorate of Shipping Services has stepped forward with this groundbreaking daily ferry service.
The new ferry service will provide tourists and local residents with the opportunity to traverse effortlessly between Port Blair, Swaraj Dweep, and Long Island, unlocking a world of possibilities for exploration and adventure. This enhanced connectivity is expected to catalyse tourism in the region, attracting visitors keen on experiencing the islands’ unspoiled splendour.
Furthermore, the introduction of this daily ferry service signifies a significant milestone for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, aligning with the government’s overarching vision to promote tourism and elevate regional connectivity.
The daily ferry service will follow a meticulously planned schedule: Departure from Port Blair at 0800 Hrs – Arrival at Swaraj Dweep at 1015 Hrs – Departure from Swaraj Dweep at 1030 Hrs – Arrival at Long Island at 1230 Hrs – Departure from Long Island at 1245 Hrs – Arrival at Swaraj Dweep at 1445 Hrs – Departure from Swaraj Dweep at 1500 Hrs – Arrival at Port Blair at 1715 Hrs.
This schedule is set to come into effect from October 1, 2023, promising regular and efficient connectivity between these enchanting destinations.
