DBRAIT Students Hold Protest; Demands Compliance with University Conditions

Students of Dr. B R Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Port Blair today held a protest in front of their college. The protest was led by Mr. P Sagar, President, DBRAIT Unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. 

The protesting students demanded that DBRAIT should fulfil the conditions specified by Pondicherry University. Students further informed that DBRAIT has not complied with seventeen conditions specified by the Pondicherry University.

The major demands put forward by the students of DBRAIT were: 

1. Conducting Lateral Entry Examinations as per norms of Pondicherry University and rules of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). 

2. To separate Diploma and Degree courses offered at DBRAIT into different institutions.

3. Initiation of a recruitment drive for the post of Professors and Associate Professors immediately.

Members of the State Working Committee of ABVP were also present during the protest. Miss. Seema Kumari, Secretary, ABVP, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Mr. U Partha Sarathi, National Executive Council Member, ABVP addressed the students during the protest.

Mr. Siddhant Rai Sharma, State Joint Secretary, ABVP, Andaman and Nicobar Islands encouraged the students to fight for their rights without any hesitation. Mr. Sharma further warned the DBRAIT administration of more protests, if the demands of the students are not met.
