As part of the Government of India’s flagship initiative “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore”, Mr. Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar District, conducted an extensive field visit to Kinyuka and Chuckchucha villages on Saturday.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by the Assistant Commissioner (HQ)/Project Officer, ITDP, and senior officials from key departments including Rural Development, APWD, Health, Education, ICDS, Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, and the District Child Protection Office.

The visit focused on reviewing ground-level challenges and assessing the progress of ongoing development activities. Mr. Kale engaged directly with Tribal Council Captains and local residents to understand concerns related to infrastructure, public services, and livelihood opportunities.

As part of the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed critical public infrastructure such as community halls, tsunami shelters, El-Panam, schools, roads, powerhouses, Health Sub-Centres, Anganwadi Centres, and RO water purification plants to evaluate their condition and functionality.

Following the assessments, he instructed concerned departments to undertake improvements of rural roads under the PMGSY scheme and initiate urgent repair work on community halls and El-Panam structures. He also called for the construction of community toilets and directed officials to conduct a village-wise survey of unemployed youth to ensure proper skilling and employment linkage.

Highlighting the urgent need for improved healthcare facilities, Mr. Kale emphasized fast-tracking the construction of the Health Sub-Centre at Chuckchucha. He urged all departments to address the critical issues identified during the visit with a sense of urgency and ensure time-bound resolution.
