In a significant achievement, the South Andaman District has become the first district in India to receive ISO 9001:2015 certification for multiple administrative units on the same day. The certified offices include the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office, two Assistant Commissioner’s Offices, and three Tehsildar Offices.
The certification was formally handed over by the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, to the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, during a ceremony held at the Secretariat’s conference hall on August 20, 2024.
The ISO 9001:2015 certification acknowledges the South Andaman District Office’s commitment to maintaining high standards in various critical areas of public administration. These areas include Land Revenue, Law and Order, Maintenance of Land Records, Disaster Management and Public Safety, Issuance of Certificates, Supervision and Management of Sub Divisions and Tehsils, Public Grievance Redressal, and Election Management.
ISO 9001:2015 is a globally recognised standard for quality management systems, emphasising the importance of continuous improvement and efficient service delivery. Achieving this certification is a testament to the district office’s dedication to upholding public trust through effective governance and high-quality administrative services.
