Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, recently conducted a field visit to Kanyapuram Gram Panchayat to review the ongoing and recently completed rural development projects aimed at improving local infrastructure and community welfare.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected and inaugurated the newly constructed Cement Concrete (CC) road and renovation works of the existing blacktop road equipped with proper drainage facilities, executed under the Rural Development Department. These projects form part of the Administration’s continued efforts to strengthen rural connectivity, enhance road safety, and ensure effective stormwater management for residents.

As part of the developmental initiatives, 0.0110 hectares of land has been earmarked for the construction of an Anganwadi Centre at Kanyapuram. The proposed centre will cater to the nutritional, educational, and health needs of children and mothers, contributing to holistic development under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the Gram Panchayat and field officials for their proactive implementation of Government schemes and stressed the importance of continuous monitoring to ensure quality and timely completion of works. He also interacted with local representatives and residents to gather feedback on the ongoing projects and assured continued administrative support for addressing community needs at the grassroots level.
