A review meeting under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. The meeting focused on evaluating the district’s progress in the campaign and formulating strategies to achieve the goal of a tuberculosis-free South Andaman.
During the review, it was noted that South Andaman has successfully completed the screening of vulnerable populations, marking a major milestone under the Abhiyaan. The Deputy Commissioner commended the efforts of health teams and all stakeholders, stating that this achievement places the district in a strong position in the national drive to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025.
Mr. Sharma also emphasized the importance of strengthening diagnostic capabilities through greater utilization of X-ray and NAAT testing. He directed the Health Department to focus on completing targets in these areas to ensure early detection and timely treatment. He further urged all departments to work in close coordination to accelerate progress and make South Andaman a frontrunner among all States and Union Territories in achieving the campaign’s objectives.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Health Department, ICMR, and other line departments. Discussions also covered strategies for community engagement, awareness generation, and resource mobilization to sustain momentum under the campaign.
Reiterating its commitment to the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister for a TB-free India, the District Administration informed that regular review meetings will continue to monitor progress and address emerging challenges.
