The two-day Deepawali SHG Mela organized under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) got underway at the Marina Park stretch on Thursday. The event, spearheaded by the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihood Mission (ANIRLM) under the aegis of the Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs, aims to promote rural entrepreneurship and provide a marketing platform for Self Help Group (SHG) members.

A total of 60 stalls have been set up at the venue, displaying a diverse range of handmade products crafted by SHG members and other participating institutions. The Mela seeks to encourage local artisans, strengthen livelihood opportunities, and boost rural economic activity ahead of the festive season.

During his visit, Dr. Apurva Sharma, Director (RD/Panchayat) and State Mission Director (ANIRLM), interacted with SHG members and motivated them to expand their product range and explore new markets.

The Mela has witnessed enthusiastic participation from both exhibitors and visitors, creating a lively atmosphere filled with cultural exchange, promotion of traditional crafts, and festive celebrations. The event will continue today, October 17, from 3 pm to 9 pm at Marina Park.
