A delegation of PRI members from Ferrargunj Tehsil, led by Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman of the Campaign Committee of the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), met the Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to raise urgent public concerns arising from the ongoing closure of the Chatham Bridge.

During the meeting, Mr. Bhasker urged the Administration to explore and implement alternative arrangements to ensure uninterrupted connectivity and minimise the hardships faced by the public due to the bridge closure.

He also brought several other critical issues to the Chief Secretary’s attention. Among them was the growing discontent over the reduction of the upper age limit for government job eligibility to 27 years, which has left many aspiring candidates frustrated. He further highlighted the need for deploying a larger passenger vessel to Mayabunder, and proposed the introduction of a connecting bus service up to Diglipur to temporarily address the inconvenience caused by the poor condition of NH-4. Additionally, he stressed the importance of making airlifting services for stretcher-bound patients to the mainland more affordable and accessible.

The Chief Secretary assured the delegation that the Administration would give due consideration to the issues raised and would work towards implementing viable and timely solutions.
