Delegation of Govt. Motor Transport Drivers Union Place their Demands before Secretary (Transport)

A delegation of the Govt. Motor Transport Drivers Union led by its  Vice President, Mr. R. Surendran Pillai met Secretary (Transport), Andaman & Nicobar Administration recently, and discussed a number of  grievances of the  employees of Transport Department.  

The Union delegation brought to the notice of the Secretary (Transport) that though 1/30th of pay plus DA scheme was implemented on the basis of the Court order, and the benefits were received by a large number of workers working in the Transport Department, the arrears of the same was not paid to such workers on the plea of shortage of funds. The Union delegation urged the Secretary (Transport) to disburse the arrears to all the concerned workers immediately.  

The Union expressed its dissatisfaction over the transfer of daily rated employees from Port Blair to outstations and urged the Secretary (Transport) not to transfer daily rated employees from their places of stay.  

The Union also urged the Secretary (Transport) to make rest rooms available for the drivers, as was done earlier. The Union also urged the Secretary (Transport) to provide Canteen facility to the employees at Bus Terminus, Port Blair.  The Union also requested the Secretary (Transport) to grant Overtime Allowance to all the daily rated employees who are working beyond their normal shift duty. Union delegation also requested the Secretary (Transport) to ensure that monthly wages of the workers are paid before 7th of every month.             

The other members of the delegation were Mr. SP Kalairajan and Mr. Anand Rajan, Secretaries of CITU State Committee.
