DEO Wimberlygunj Successfully Conducts ‘Run with Nature’ Marathon

The Deputy Education Office, Wimberlygunj, successfully organized the much-anticipated ‘Run with Nature’ Marathon on Saturday, drawing over 200 enthusiastic participants. The event featured a 10 km run for men, a 5 km run for women, and a 4 km Walkathon specially designed for senior citizens, all starting and concluding at Chunnabatta–North Bay–Chunnabatta.

The marathon was officially flagged off by Mr. Vikram Singh, Director (Education/Sports), who later presented cash awards and trophies to the winners of the men’s category. In his valedictory address, Mr. Singh encouraged the younger generation to adopt sports as a means to maintain a healthy lifestyle and steer clear of drug abuse.

Awards for the women’s category were distributed by Dr. Shweta, accompanied by Mrs. Rasheeda, Pradhan of GP Hopetown, and Ms. Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member. Meanwhile, Mr. Niti Bhardwaj, Assistant Branch Manager, SBI, and Dr. Manoharan, DEO of Wimberlygunj, honoured the winners of the senior citizens’ category.

Special recognition was also given to the participant with Children With Special Needs (CWSN) and to the youngest participant who completed the marathon, highlighting the event’s inclusive spirit.

The ‘Run with Nature’ Marathon not only celebrated physical fitness but also reinforced community spirit and the importance of leading a drug-free life.
