Beekeeping is increasingly recognized as a crucial practice for enhancing crop production and productivity, while also contributing to the production of honey and natural wax, thus providing both nutritional and economic benefits. Acknowledging its significance, the Department of Agriculture, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, is set to organize a two-day training program on Beekeeping in the last week of February 2024.
The primary objective of the training program is to promote Beekeeping among farmers in the region and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to engage in this beneficial practice effectively.
Farmers residing in South Andaman District who are interested in participating in the training program are encouraged to register their names. Registration can be done at the nearest Agri-Sub Depot or Zonal Agriculture Office, South Andaman, during working hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
The training program aims to empower farmers with the essential techniques and insights into Beekeeping, emphasizing its role in pollination, which in turn enhances crop yields and quality. Additionally, participants will learn about honey and natural wax production, providing them with alternative sources of income and nutritional supplements.
Through this initiative, the Department of Agriculture aims to not only promote sustainable agricultural practices but also improve the livelihoods of farmers in the region. Beekeeping presents a viable opportunity for farmers to diversify their income streams while contributing to the conservation of pollinators, essential for ecosystem health and agricultural sustainability.
Interested farmers are encouraged to seize this opportunity and register for the upcoming Beekeeping training program to gain valuable knowledge and skills that can significantly benefit their agricultural endeavours.
