In a strategic move to enhance economic conditions and foster self-employment among rural youth, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services has been providing farm inputs on a subsidised basis. This initiative is part of a broader effort to boost rural livelihoods through sustainable agricultural practices.
Recently, the Department took a significant step by distributing Malabari goat kids to residents of North and Middle Andaman. Among the beneficiaries, Mr. Lashy and Mr. Ashok Tirkey each received one male and one female Malabari goat kid. This distribution aims to promote goat farming as a viable and profitable enterprise for rural families, offering them a pathway to improved economic stability and self-sufficiency.
By raising these goats, families can not only meet their own nutritional needs but also generate additional income.
This initiative by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services underscores the government’s commitment to rural development and economic empowerment. By providing essential resources and support, the Department is paving the way for a more prosperous and self-reliant rural community.
As the program continues, more rural residents are expected to benefit from similar distributions, further promoting goat farming as a sustainable agricultural practice in the region.
