Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (CS&CA) had earlier announced an extension of the deadline for e-KYC (Know Your Customer) updates for Family Identity Card (FIC) holders, commonly known as Ration Card holders, until March 31st. Despite numerous appeals and extensive efforts, a significant number of beneficiaries have yet to approach their Fair Price Shops or the CS&CA Department and respective Supply Units located in the Inter Islands for updating their e-KYC information.
All beneficiaries holding Ration Cards, including Above Poverty Line (APL), Priority Households (PHH), and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) categories, who have not completed their e-KYC for any reason, are urged to visit their nearest Fair Price Shops with their Aadhaar numbers to facilitate the e-KYC process for all members listed on their Ration Cards.
In addition to the Fair Price Shops, beneficiaries can also visit Room No. 20 at the Directorate of CS&CA in Port Blair or their respective Supply Units to update their e-KYC before the deadline of May 15, 2024. A list of beneficiaries who have not yet updated their e-KYC has been posted in their respective Fair Price Shops for reference.
Concerns have been raised regarding some beneficiaries who are unable to update their e-KYC due to issues such as difficulty in reading fingerprints, often associated with age or other factors. These individuals are encouraged to visit the Aadhaar Enrolment Center at the Directorate of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs in Port Blair or any Aadhaar Enrolment Center in their respective Tehsils to update their Aadhaar biometrics. This opportunity is considered final for updating the e-KYC of their Ration Cards.
For further assistance and information, individuals can contact the Toll-Free Number at 03192-230337.
The extension of the deadline aims to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries have the opportunity to complete their e-KYC updates, thereby facilitating the efficient distribution of essential commodities through the public distribution system.
