The Department of Fisheries, in collaboration with ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Cochin, is set to conduct a three-day training programme on ‘Marine Ornamental Fish Breeding.’ This event is scheduled to take place during the third week of June 2024 and aims to educate participants on hatchery technology, breeding, seed production, and rearing of common marine ornamental fishes.
The training programme will feature a blend of classroom lectures and practical sessions, providing comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience. Twenty-five selected participants from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will have the opportunity to partake in this specialised training.
Applications are invited from fishers, fish farmers, self-help groups (SHGs), entrepreneurs, tribals, and unemployed youths from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact their nearest Zonal Fisheries Offices or Fisheries Sub-Stations to obtain the prescribed application form. Completed applications must be submitted to the nearest Fisheries Offices by June 12, 2024.
For further information and queries, applicants can reach out to the Fisheries Training Centre at Marine Hill by calling 03192-241467 during office hours.
This initiative represents a significant opportunity for local unemployed youth to enhance their skills and engage in sustainable marine ornamental fish breeding practices.
