As part of the initiative to promote self employment and to create awareness among the unemployed youth in Little Andaman, the Department of Industries conducted motivational-cum-awareness programme on PMFME (Prime Minister’s Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises) Scheme. The department also commenced a short term training programme in Coconut Shell handicrafts and economical ways to make organic manure with coconut husk at Harminder Bay today. Altogether 35 participants attended the programme.
Mr. Andrew, 1st Captain/ Headman, was the Chief guest on the occasion. In his address, he advised the participants, especially women of Harminder Bay to generate income through Govt. Schemes and trainings to raise their economic status.
Mr. K S Anthony, 3rd Headman in his address lauded the efforts of Industries Department for conducting such awareness programme and training. He also motivated the villagers to utilise the opportunity. Mr. Festus encouraged the participants to start their own ventures with the available resources in their village and assured to provide support in all possible ways.
Ms. Sunitha Kumari , Assistant Director (Tech.) explained about the flagship programme of PMFME introduced by the Govt. of India and thanked all the Headmen/Captain and villagers for participating in the programme.
