Department of Sports and Youth Affairs to Celebrate Women’s Day with Sporting Events

The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs is set to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 with a series of sports competitions at the Netaji Stadium Complex. The event aims to encourage women’s participation in sports and promote a healthy lifestyle among different age groups.

The department has organised various competitions for women, including government employees and the general public, across different age categories. The events are as follows:

  • For women aged 18-40 years: 5-a-side football, volleyball, badminton (doubles), cycling, athletics (100m sprint, 4x100m relay, shot put), and sack race.
  • For women aged 41-60 years: Walking race, spoon marble race, reverse walking, and passing the ball.
  • Exclusive events for women above 18 years: Chess and tug of war.

Interested participants can register their names with Dr. S. Usha Rani, PET, at the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Netaji Stadium, Sri Vijaya Puram. Registrations will be accepted until March 7. For more details, participants can contact Dr. Rani at 9531929184.
