In a concerted effort to promote cleanliness and hygiene across the North & Middle Andaman District, Mr. Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, spearheaded the launch of the ‘Swachh Panchayat Campaign.’ The initiative took flight during a significant meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder, on the 16th of May 2024.
Attended by key stakeholders including all Pradhans of Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Secretaries, and Heads of implementing Departments/Units across all Tehsils, the meeting garnered robust participation. Notably, representatives from Rangat & Diglipur Tehsil contributed remotely through video conferencing, showcasing a commitment to inclusivity in the campaign.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Meena outlined the comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) comprising 11 parameters for the campaign’s execution. Scheduled to kickstart on the 20th of May 2024, the campaign is slated to run for 21 days until the 9th of June 2024.
Expressions of appreciation and solidarity echoed as the Pradhans of Gram Panchayats commended the proactive efforts of Deputy Commissioner Meena. They pledged to transform their respective Gram Panchayats into models of cleanliness within the stipulated timeframe. Deputy Commissioner Meena further stressed the importance of seamless coordination among participating Departments to ensure the campaign’s success.
The ‘Swachh Panchayat Campaign’ stands as a testament to the collective resolve towards fostering a cleaner and healthier environment across the North & Middle Andaman District. With strong leadership and community engagement, the initiative sets a promising trajectory towards sustainable cleanliness and hygiene practices within the region.
