In response to mounting concerns regarding water supply in N&M Andaman, the Deputy Commissioner convened a crucial meeting on May 7th, 2024, to assess the district’s current status and strategize effective solutions. With the looming specter of water scarcity, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the urgency of the situation and directed concerned officials to take decisive action.
During the meeting, a key directive was issued to identify new water sources and prioritise the enhancement of existing ones. The aim is to alleviate the strain on the district’s water supply infrastructure and meet the rising demand effectively.
Furthermore, recognizing the critical role of administrative processes in facilitating development, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Revenue Department to expedite pending tasks such as demarcation, mutation, and valuation across all three sub-divisions. It was emphasised that priority should be given to swiftly process revenue cases.
Addressing concerns related to infrastructure, particularly road maintenance, the Deputy Commissioner urged officials of NH-4 to accelerate repair and upkeep efforts ahead of the monsoon season. Ensuring the thoroughfare’s motorability is crucial for facilitating transportation and safeguarding against potential hazards during inclement weather.
Deputy Commissioner also directed the officials to identify illegal construction/encroachment and initiate necessary action as per rules.
To maintain a proactive approach towards addressing these challenges, it was decided to conduct similar review meetings on a weekly basis. This measure aims to monitor progress, identify emerging issues, and adapt strategies accordingly to ensure the well-being and development of N&M Andaman.
