DGP A&N Islands Visits Shibpur Airport and Engages with PRI Members and Police Personnel of N & M Andaman District

Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police (DGP), Andaman and Nicobar Islands, recently conducted an important visit to Shibpur Airport and held discussions with local Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members. He also interacted with North & Middle Andaman District Police personnel during a traditional gathering, known as Barakhana, at Mayabunder.

During his visit to Shibpur Airport, DGP Srivastva reviewed the current security arrangements and the operational efficiency of the facility. The visit highlighted the importance of maintaining stringent safety measures and ensuring the smooth functioning of the airport to better serve the local community and travellers.

Following the airport inspection, the DGP held a productive meeting with PRI members. The discussions focused on strengthening community-police relations, addressing local concerns, and exploring collaborative initiatives aimed at improving public safety and administrative efficiency in the region.

Later in the evening, DGP Srivastva participated in a Barakhana, a traditional collective meal, hosted by the North & Middle Andaman District Police. This event provided a platform for fostering solidarity and camaraderie within the police force. The gathering was enriched by captivating performances from two talented dance troupes, showcasing the Karren Folk Dance and Chota Nagpuri Folk Dance, representing the diverse local communities.

The Barakhana was well-attended by police personnel of all ranks, offering an opportunity to recognize and honour members from the Police Station, Fire & Emergency Services, Police Marine Force, and Police Radio. The event also fostered interaction and deepened mutual understanding among the various units.

DGP Srivastva expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the North & Middle Andaman District Police in organising the event and emphasised the significance of continued community engagement. 

The event was also attended by senior police officials, including Mr. Ajay Krishan Sharma, IPS, DIGP (HQ), Ms. Varsha Sharma, IPS, DIGP (L&O), and Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP N&MA District.
