DGP Andaman and Nicobar Islands Inaugurates Commando Obstacles at Police Training School in Prothrapur

In a significant boost to police training infrastructure in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Director General of Police, A&N Islands, Mr. H.G.S. Dhaliwal, IPS, on Wednesday inaugurated 10 newly constructed Commando Obstacles at the Police Training School (PTS), Prothrapur.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ms. Sindhu Pillai A., IPS, Additional Director General of Police; Ms. Geeta Rani Verma, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Training); all DIGPs; Mr. Uma Shankar, DANIPS, Principal, PTS; and other senior officers of the Andaman and Nicobar Police. The presence of the senior leadership underscored the department’s commitment to capacity building and professional excellence.

The newly developed state-of-the-art commando obstacles have been designed to enhance physical endurance, agility, tactical proficiency, and overall operational preparedness of police personnel. The facility will cater to the training needs of newly recruited police constables as well as in-service personnel, offering realistic and scenario-based training.

The initiative is expected to strengthen the force’s ability to effectively handle emerging law and order challenges, disaster response, and emergency situations across the Islands. With this addition, the Andaman and Nicobar Police have taken another step towards modernization of training infrastructure, reinforcing efforts to ensure public safety and internal security in the Union Territory.
