The Andaman and Nicobar Police marked its 72nd Raising Day with an extravagant celebration at the Police Lines Parade Ground today. The event showcased a splendid parade, underscoring the discipline and professionalism of the A&N Police personnel.
Addressing the gathering, the Director-General of Police expressed sincere gratitude for the expeditious approval of various proposals by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and A&N Administration. Notable approvals included the new Andaman & Nicobar Islands Police Manual, a fresh logo, recruitment for 590 vacancies, DG commendation Disc, establishment of Anti-Narcotics Police Station and Cyber Crime Police Station, and renaming the A&N Fire Service department to A&N Fire & Emergency Services department, among others. These approvals have significantly contributed to the progress and efficiency of the force.
Highlighting the achievements of the A&N Police over the past year, the DGP emphasized enhanced traffic management, a zero-tolerance policy on drugs, stringent measures against crimes targeting women, children, senior citizens, and cow slaughtering. The force also achieved success in anti-poaching operations, crackdown on narcotics and illicit liquor, establishment of tourist police, setting up a kiosk near Cellular Jail, providing better amenities to police personnel, and maintaining a top position in CCTNS & ITSO among States/UTs. Additionally, the introduction of the ‘Fire Mitra’ scheme, technology induction, and capacity building at all levels were acknowledged.
The DGP lauded the collaborative efforts of all security and intelligence agencies, including A&N Command, Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, IB, CISF, CRPF, NDRF, Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau, and Special Bureau. He commended their close coordination in ensuring the safety and well-being of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
In conclusion, the DGP praised the exemplary efforts of the police force, acknowledging their commitment and dedication to duty. He highlighted the unwavering spirit that defines the A&N Police, recognising their consistent and sincere efforts in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. The grand celebration served as a testament to the force’s resilience and unwavering commitment to service.
