Port Blair, 11 August 2023

In a significant stride towards enhancing public services and ensuring the safety of citizens, Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police (DGP) for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, inaugurated the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) Service for reporting lost or stolen mobile phones through the Citizen Portal of the A&N Police. The momentous launch took place on August 11, 2023, at the Police Headquarters in Port Blair, witnessed by high-ranking officials including Mr. Pankaj Kumar, IAS, Secretary (IT), Mr. Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, IPS, DIGP (Intl/CID), and Ms. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, DIGP (Law & Order).

With this innovative service now in operation, citizens of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands can directly register complaints about their lost or stolen mobile phones via the CCTNS Citizen Service Portal at http://citizen.andaman.gov.in/Login.aspx. The comprehensive system requires specific mandatory details such as the mobile number and IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) for successful registration of missing mobile devices. The submitted data will seamlessly integrate into the CCTNS Core Application, streamlining the process for tracking and recovery.

The process for reporting and managing lost or stolen mobile phones through the Citizen Portal entails the following steps:

1. Citizen Login: Users are required to log in to the State CCTNS Citizen Service portal.

2. Report Loss: Once logged in, individuals can enter details about their lost or stolen mobile devices to initiate the blocking process.

3. Request Number: Upon form submission, a unique request number will be generated and shared with the user after verification through One-Time Password (OTP) on an alternate contact number.

4. Data Sharing: The lost or stolen mobile phone information provided by the complainant will be shared with the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR).

5. Daily Alerts: CEIR will send daily alerts to the relevant Police Stations associated with registered complaints if any traced mobile phone matches the reported details.

6. Recovery Notification: In the event of the police recovering a reported mobile phone, the complainant will receive notification, and an alert will be sent to their alternate contact number.

7. Unblocking Process: Once a user recovers their lost or stolen mobile device, they can reference their request number and request unblocking through the Citizen Portal.

The initiative underscores the unwavering commitment of the Andaman & Nicobar Police in providing a secure and safe environment for all residents and visitors. By leveraging advanced technology and implementing citizen-centric solutions, the police department aims to deliver quality policing services while ensuring convenience and efficiency in the reporting and management of lost or stolen mobile devices.
