The Directorate of Health Services and the A&N State AYUSH Society celebrated the 8th Naturopathy Day with a series of programmes, including a national webinar titled “Introduction to Naturopathy and its Principles” for AYUSH health professionals. This year’s theme, “Losing Weight Naturally through Naturopathy,” highlighted the importance of adopting natural methods for maintaining healthy body weight and overall wellness.
The Secretary (Health) and MD (NHM & NAM), A&N Administration, Ms. Richa inaugurated the webinar and addressed the participants. Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, DD (Ayush) highlighted the significance of naturopathy in modern-day healthcare. The technical session was led by Dr. L. Nivethitha, Professor, National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Nandini, MO (Y&N), and was moderated by Dr. Anju Jayan, MO (Ayur).
As part of the Naturopathy Day observance, an awareness talk was conducted for ANCOL students on 10th November, focusing on the core practices of naturopathy, including yoga, a balanced nutritious diet, and adequate exposure to sunlight for better health.
A Naturopathy Health Camp was also organized for mothers and children on 13th November at the Anganwadi Centre, New Wandoor. Additionally, a cleanliness drive and barefoot walk was held at New Wandoor Beach in collaboration with the Gram Panchayat. The Pradhan of Wandoor Gram Panchayat, Mr. Adhir Das, graced the event as chief guest. The barefoot walk promoted the health benefits of “earthing”, including stress reduction and improved physical posture.
Further, a fancy-dress competition with the theme “Elements of Nature” was organized at the Ayush Hospital on 18th November, where young participants creatively represented nature’s elements through colourful costumes and enthusiastic performances. (Story Based on PR)
