The District Industries Centre (DIC) under the Department of Industries will be organizing a series of Awareness-cum-Motivational Programmes in the Nancowry Group of Islands from the end of the fourth week of November 2025. The initiative aims to promote self-employment and entrepreneurial growth among unemployed youth through the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and other government-sponsored schemes.

The programmes are being planned in collaboration with the Tribal Council, Departments of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, SBI, ANSCB, NYK and various NGOs. Through these outreach efforts, participants will be briefed on available financial assistance, benefits and schemes implemented across multiple line departments to support new business ventures.

According to DIC, the programme will not only create awareness but also provide hands-on guidance to prospective rural entrepreneurs in filling up applications and completing mandatory documentation. Applications collected on-site will be uploaded instantly on the PMEGP online portal and forwarded to the concerned banks after due verification for financial assistance.

Unemployed individuals from the Nancowry Group of Islands who are interested in setting up manufacturing, service or trading enterprises under the PMEGP scheme have been requested to attend the programme with necessary documents such as Aadhaar Card, Local Certificate, Category Certificate and educational qualification certificates.

For further information, aspiring entrepreneurs may contact the District Industries Centre, Udyog Parisar, Middle Point at 03192-232819/232601, a DIC press release said.
