The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Garacharma, under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, has launched a 30-day Basic Computer Training Programme aimed at promoting digital literacy, vocational skills and community empowerment. The programme is being attended by 40 community members drawn from SMC, SMDC and PTA of CRC Garacharma and CRC School Line.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Ms. Jyothi, CRC Coordinator and Principal, PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School, Garacharma, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Addressing the participants, she underscored the growing importance of digital literacy as an essential life skill in today’s world. She also appreciated DIET, Garacharma, for extending academic and technological support beyond teacher education to the wider community.
Speaking on the occasion, Programme Coordinator Ms. Aradhana Yadav, Lecturer in Educational Technology, DIET Garacharma, stated that the training aims to equip participants with essential computer skills required for everyday use. The curriculum includes basic computer operations, an introduction to computer hardware and software, use of operating systems, typing skills, preparation of simple documents, and safe and responsible use of the internet.
The training programme places strong emphasis on hands-on learning to help participants become digitally confident and self-reliant. It is also expected to enable them to provide academic and technological support to their families, particularly school-going children, in digital learning activities.
The initiative reflects DIET Garacharma’s continued commitment under Samagra Shiksha towards inclusive education, lifelong learning and community engagement. It also aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by promoting vocational education and skill development among community members, contributing to the creation of a digitally empowered and skilled society.
