In a late-night operation, a patrolling team from Diglipur Police Station intercepted a suspicious vehicle in the Subashgram area on 11th of January 2025, leading to the seizure of illicit substances and the arrest of one individual under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The incident occurred around 1:30 AM when the patrolling team, comprising police personnel, noticed a Mahindra Xylo parked near a residence under suspicious circumstances. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be occupied by eight individuals, including the driver. Initial questioning revealed that the owner of the vehicle, a 32-year-old individual, appeared intoxicated and could not provide a satisfactory explanation for his presence in the area late at night.
The individual, suspected of consuming psychotropic substances, later disclosed possession of contraband items. Following this admission, a raiding team led by Inspector Vijay Kumar, with oversight from SDPO Diglipur Mr. Ankesh Yadav (DANIPS), was constituted. The vehicle was searched in the presence of independent witnesses.
During the search, police recovered approximately 23 grams of illicit cannabis (ganja), 2.05 grams of methamphetamine, and various items associated with drug consumption. The items were seized following due legal procedures, including videography and documentation as per the NDPS Act.
The suspect was formally arrested, and the vehicle was impounded. The accused faces charges under Sections 20(b)(ii)A and 22(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
