In a significant move to promote environmental sustainability and community engagement, Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, led the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative at Bambooflat. Accompanied by Ms. Sindhu Pillai A, IPS, Inspector General of Police, and other senior officers, Mr. Srivastva spearheaded the planting of fruit-bearing tree saplings at the site of the new Police Station in Bambooflat.
The “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day 2024, encourages individuals to plant trees in honour of their mothers. The campaign aims to enhance environmental conservation and promote a greener, healthier world. The participation of the Andaman & Nicobar Police, under the leadership of Mr. Srivastva, aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision.
During the visit, the dignitaries also toured PS Bambooflat and FS Bambooflat. The DGP received a Guard of Honour at PS Bambooflat. Demonstrating a commitment to improving the working conditions and welfare of the police force, Mr. Srivastva and other officers engaged with the staff, addressing their grievances and concerns. This interaction aimed to boost morale and reinforce solidarity and support within the department.
The event concluded on a positive note, emphasising the importance of community service and environmental responsibility. It underscored ongoing efforts to foster a greener environment and a motivated police force in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
