The Directorate of Industries organised a three-day short-term skill development training programme on Handicrafts (Coconut Shell, Wooden and Cane & Bamboo Products) at Naval Children School from December 29 to 31, 2025.
The programme was aimed at developing basic skills and technical knowledge among students, in line with the Bagless Days initiative in schools. A total of 50 trainees participated in the training, where they were provided introductory hands-on experience in crafting products using locally available materials. The initiative was designed to foster creativity, promote appreciation for traditional crafts, and encourage skill-based learning at an early stage.
The valedictory function of the programme was held today in the presence of Ms. Anita Devi, Principal of Naval Children School, Ms. Priyanka Tiwari, Vice Principal, along with faculty members of the school.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Liaqat Ali from the Directorate of Industries highlighted various initiatives of the department aimed at supporting the Bagless Initiative, promoting creative learning, and strengthening skill-oriented education among students.
In her address, Ms. Anita Devi appreciated the efforts of the Directorate of Industries for organising hands-on training programmes that align with local resource potential and provide students with practical exposure to nurture creativity and craftsmanship.
