The Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs launched the State-level Swachhta Hi Seva 2025 campaign on Wednesday at Gram Panchayat Beodnabad, in coordination with Panchayat and Block-level authorities. The campaign will be observed across the Union Territory from September 17 to October 2, 2025.

The launch programme began with the administration of the Swachhta Hi Seva pledge by Dr. Apurva Sharma, Director (RD/P), who urged citizens to dedicate at least 100 hours annually—around two hours each week—to cleanliness drives. Highlighting the significance of individual efforts, Dr. Sharma stressed that consistent community action was vital for building a cleaner and healthier society.

As part of the inaugural event, a cleanliness drive was carried out in and around the Panchayat Bhawan. The drive witnessed active participation from Directorate staff, Block officials, PRI members, and local villagers, reflecting strong community involvement and civic responsibility.

Simultaneously, the campaign was launched at Block and Gram Panchayat levels across the Islands to ensure widespread public participation. The initiative aims to raise awareness on sanitation and promote long-term behavioral change towards maintaining cleanliness.

The Swachhta Hi Seva 2025 campaign is observed as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals, reaffirming his vision that “cleanliness is next to godliness” and his dream of a nation rooted in health, hygiene, and a clean environment for all.
