The Directorate of Social Welfare, A & N Administration, joined hands with the Andaman Chambers of Commerce & Industries (ACCI) to address the empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the workforce. A crucial meeting was convened in the chamber of the Directorate of Social Welfare to discuss strategies and initiatives aimed at facilitating the integration of PwDs into various job roles within the private sector.
Attending the meeting were notable figures including Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director of Social Welfare, Mr. Arun Srivastava, Executive Secretary of ACCI, Mr. B. Dinesh Kumar, Joint Secretary and Coordinator at ACCI, Mr. Farhan Jadwet, Chairman of the Youth Wing at ACCI, along with several other key members of ACCI’s Youth Wing.
The primary agenda of the meeting revolved around deliberations on skill training and employment opportunities for PwDs in the Andaman Islands. Dr. Nitin Shakya emphasised the importance of fostering an inclusive environment within the private sector and announced the opening of fresh applications exclusively for qualified individuals with disabilities interested in pursuing careers in various job functions and levels within private organisations.
