The Directorate of Social Welfare organised an awareness programme on substance abuse at ANCOL under the national campaign ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushaal Bharat’, bringing together students from various undergraduate departments. The initiative aimed to educate young adults about the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse while encouraging a collective commitment towards creating an addiction-free society.
A resource person from the Anti-Narcotics Unit delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation explaining the harmful effects of alcohol and drugs on individuals, families, and the wider community. Students were sensitised to how substance abuse impacts physical and mental health, disrupts social harmony, and contributes to long-term societal challenges.
The Project Coordinator (NAPDDR) urged students to scan the provided QR code, take the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) pledge, and share it with their peers to strengthen the movement’s reach. Speakers also outlined the goals of the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) and the NMBA, stressing the importance of youth involvement, community support, and inter-departmental collaboration in preventing substance abuse.
The programme concluded with a call for sustained awareness efforts and active student participation to help build a healthier, drug-free society.
