The Directorate of Social Welfare orchestrated an impactful Awareness-cum-Fitness Programme on December 10th at Jogger’s Park under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.’ With the objective of fostering awareness about drug abuse while promoting a healthy lifestyle, the fitness program saw active participation from various segments of the community.
Approximately 60 beneficiaries, including children from two Child Care Institutions and members of the general public, graced the event, which was efficiently conducted by Mr. M.S. Murgan.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, the Director of Social Welfare, seized the opportunity to underscore the significance of fitness initiatives. He enlightened the participants about the myriad benefits of physical activities like jogging, cycling, or dancing, emphasising their ability to trigger the release of endorphins, subsequently uplifting mood and overall well-being.
The program is scheduled to be a recurring event, slated for every Sunday until March 2024 at Joggers Park, commencing from 6 am and concluding at 7.30 am. Individuals interested in participating or seeking further information are encouraged to contact the Nodal Officer (Prohibition) at the Department of Social Welfare via phone at 03192-244386 or 9933248717.
This concerted effort by the Directorate of Social Welfare stands as a testament to their commitment toward not just combating substance abuse but also nurturing a healthier and more informed society through proactive measures.
