As part of its ongoing Lecture Series on Sustainable Tourism, the Directorate of Tourism will organize a public lecture on “The Island Way of Tourism” by marine biologist and naturalist Ms. Diksha Dikshit. The event is scheduled for October 13, 2025, at 11 AM in the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Disaster Management.
The lecture aims to raise awareness about sustainable tourism practices tailored to the fragile island ecosystem and rich marine biodiversity of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Ms. Dikshit is expected to share insights on community participation, responsible tourism, and conservation-oriented approaches that embody the “Island way” of harmonizing tourism with nature.
Members of the general public, students, tourists, scuba diving operators, and nature enthusiasts have been invited to attend and engage in the interactive discussion on sustainability and island ecology.
This initiative forms part of the Department’s wider effort to promote responsible tourism and position the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as a model for nature-based and sustainable tourism.
