District Administration Initiates On-the-Job Training Programme for ITI Surveyor Trainees in North & Middle Andaman

In a significant step towards strengthening practical skill development among technical students, the District Administration, North & Middle Andaman, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Mr. Sushant Padha, IAS, has launched a structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) programme for second-year Surveyor trainees of ITI, Bakultala.

Under the initiative, the trainees have been engaged for a period of 15 days with effect from December 22, 2025, and have been attached to experienced Surveyors and S&D officials currently posted across the three sub-divisions of the district—Rangat, Diglipur and Mayabunder.

As part of the programme, the designated Surveyors and S&D officials will provide hands-on guidance and supervision to the trainees, enabling them to gain practical exposure to field-level survey operations. The trainees will function under the overall supervision of the respective Assistant Commissioners of the concerned sub-divisions, ensuring structured learning and effective monitoring.

The OJT programme aims to familiarise the trainees with real-world challenges and practical issues encountered during survey work, thereby equipping them with essential field-oriented knowledge and professional competencies vital for their future careers.

Upon successful completion of the training programme, the trainees will be felicitated with certificates by the Deputy Commissioner. The certification is expected to serve as a valuable encouragement and provide academic and professional support to the trainees in their future endeavours.

This initiative underscores the Administration’s commitment to promoting skill development and enhancing technical capabilities among young trainees by offering real-time field exposure under the mentorship of experienced officials, thereby improving their professional readiness and employability.
