In a remarkable move towards digital governance, the District Administration of Nicobar has successfully inaugurated the first E-District online services centre at Nicobar District. The inauguration took place at the DC Office in Car Nicobar on August 14, 2023, marking a significant step towards providing efficient and transparent services to the residents of the Car Nicobar Island.

Despite challenges posed by internet connectivity, the newly established E-Corner has become a beacon of progress for citizens in far-flung villages. Through the Single Window System, residents now have easy access to a plethora of online services, transforming the traditional manual processing of certificate-related public services into a seamless digital experience.

Since its inception, the E-Corner has played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between government services and the citizens of Car Nicobar Island. All certificate-related public services, once processed manually, have now transitioned to a digitalized mode, enhancing efficiency and reducing processing times.

Looking ahead, the District Administration has conducted a feasibility study for the implementation of similar E-Corners across other islands in the district. Plans are underway to establish these E-Corners on islands with reliable connectivity, further extending the reach of online services to all corners of the district.

In addition to the E-District initiative, the District Administration of Nicobar is actively working towards bringing government services directly to the citizens through the ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ program. Under this initiative, the administration has been organizing camps with the theme ‘Zilla Prashasan Aapke Dwar’ at different islands within the district.

Recent camps at Car Nicobar Island and the Nancowrie group of Islands, including Kamorta, Katchal, Teressa, and Chowra Islands, saw active participation from residents. The camps provided a platform for citizens to voice their concerns, and many grievances were addressed on the spot, showcasing the effectiveness of the program.

The ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ initiative has also extended its reach to Campbell Bay Tehsil, covering all three panchayats. The proactive approach of the District Administration in organizing these camps reflects a commitment to making government services more accessible and responsive to the needs of the community.

As the District Administration continues to spearhead innovative initiatives, the residents of Nicobar can look forward to a future where government services are not only efficient but also easily accessible at their doorstep.
